PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE IN THE EUROPEAN COMMISSION (1987-2009): In the Directorate-General for Competition, Policy and Strategy Adviser since June 2008. Consumer Liaison Officer (2004-2008). Co-ordination of the international affairs, responsible for competition rules during trade negotiations of free trade agreements with countries of the Mediterranean partnership and Latin-America (Mexico, Chile, MERCOSUR, CAN) between 1995-2003. Cooperation in competition technical assistance program EuroMed - Market (2003-2009) and in 2003 with the Autonomous Government of Catalonia. Head of Unit of the Merger Task Force (1994-1995) and of ECSC agreements and abuses of dominant position (1989-1993). In the Directorate-General of Credit and Investments as Head of Division responsible for the opinions on the investments, studies and industrial loans (1987-1989). Editor of the Latin American Competition Bulletin since 1997.

EXPERIENCE BEFORE JOINING THE EC (1973-1986): Barcelona Bar since 1981. Representative of the Spanish steel industries federation (1973-1986) to the European Commission and Eurofer, being responsible for preparing the steel sector companies to joining the European Community and proceed with industrial restructuring plans and trade defence actions. Member of the Patronat Catala pro Europa (1982-1986).
