Michael K. Rozen has achieved national prominence as a strategist, negotiator and court-appointed Special Master, having successfully resolved thousands of complex, multi-party cases. He has advised numerous companies in fashioning national litigation and settlement strategies. Product liability cases in which he has played a significant role include asbestos, lead paint, Fen-Phen, Zyprexa, Cox 2 and medical device cases, among many others. In addition, Mr. Rozen has been active in toxic tort and environmental insurance coverage, shareholder class action, employment discrimination, intellectual property, and numerous other business and commercial matters.

Mr. Rozen also served as court-appointed Special Settlement Master/Referee for asbestos litigation in the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York and New York State Supreme Court, and as the Special Discovery Master/Referee for asbestos litigation in the City of New York. He has played major roles in In re Informix Corporation Securities Litigation (securities fraud class action), Rapid American v. Allstate Insurance Co. et al, Herman v. Westinghouse Electric Company (employment discrimination class action), Cook v. Georgia Pacific Corp., et al. (consolidation of asbestos cases), Maxicare Health Plans, Inc. v. Pennsylvania Dept. of Public Welfare, et al. (health care bankruptcy), In re Eastern District Asbestos Litigation (consolidation of asbestos cases remanded from MDL court), In re Certain Lead Paint Cases (appointed by court to allocate settlement funds among numerous individuals), and In re Zyprexa Products Liability Litigation.

Mr. Rozen has assisted corporations in structuring and negotiating prepackaged asbestos bankruptcies, and was a Deputy Special Master of the Federal September 11, 2001 Victim Compensation Fund.

Mr. Rozen has appeared as a panelist on numerous ABA, PLI and private clinical programs, and has lectured extensively throughout the U.S. and abroad on topics including ADR, mass torts, complex litigation, and ethics. He is a member of the Board of Directors of Human Rights First.
