Virgil Melnic
Virgil Melnic has been a member of the Romanian Bar from 1969-1991 and 1995-2009 and from 1991-1994 was a Resident in Tucson, Arizona, USA. His objectives are to eliminate the influence of communist Legal theory in RO Justice and to bring the U.S. & E.U. Skill & Best Practice in Romania, that is, to Implement the EU legislation & reform the Romanian legal system and to ensure access to justice and results for RO citizens.
Mr. Melnic is the founder of the Romanian Foundation for Accident Victims Assistance (1999). He was a participant in KM EUROPE 2000, Palais de Congres, Brussels, (First EU Information e-business event). He directed FRAVA Project #SRO-100-05-GR-093, sponsored by the U.S. Embassy, Bucharest, Project Title: "Victims, Damages, and Unaccountable Law" with the purpose of building the non–existing practice of defending consumers and victims of accidents by informing and training the judiciary on practices in Western Democracies and by raising awareness among citizens of their democratic rights as consumers.
Mr. Melnic received his J.D. from the University of Bucharest School of Law in 1969. He is the author of Leasing Operations, Eastern European Forum Newsletter, IBA, London, 1998 and Difficulties Facing Practitioners, EEF Newsletter, IBA, London, 2000. He is a member of the International Bar Association, HRI-IBA London, 1997, the Association of the Bar of the City of New York, ABCNY, 2000, the Pan European Org of Personal Injury Lawyers, PEOPIL (RO repres. 2004), the DRJV Berlin (Deutsch/RO Jurists Association 2004) and the Global Justice Forum (2006).
